Mac and iPhone - The perfect match| iStore Online
When you use an Apple device, you’re able to do amazing things. Now, when you use a Mac and an iPhone together, you’re able to do even more amazing and intuitive things. Their operating systems, El Capitan and iOS 9 enable new features that let your devices work together smartly so that you can work, play, communicate and manage everything on your devices better.
Here’s what you do with this perfect match:
Answer and make calls on your Mac
Who would have thought that a computer would be able to take and make calls? Well, the Mac and iPhone partnership is that smart. When a call comes to your iPhone, the call rings on your Mac. You’ll get a notification on your Mac showing you the caller’s name, number and profile picture. You’ll also hear a ringtone — the same ringtone you have for that person on your iPhone. Click the notification to answer, and your Mac becomes a speakerphone, so you can have a phone conversation and use your Mac at the same time. To make a call, click any phone number you see in Contacts, Calendar, Messages, Spotlight or Safari. If you join a conference call directly from a Calendar event, your Mac enters the passcode for you. To start a call, you can access your iPhone call history in FaceTime or just enter the digits yourself.
Send and receive SMSes
Left your phone at home and worried that you’re going to miss out on notifications or messages? Relax! You can send and receive SMS text messages from your Mac. So when friends text you — regardless of what phone they have — you can respond from your Mac. All the messages that appear on your iPhone now appear on your Mac too, so your conversation is up to date on all your devices.
Start it here. Finish it there.
Say you’re working in Notes and your iPhones and realise you have to do a lot more typing, and would like a bigger screen to do it. Instead of copying and pasting it, or emailing it to yourself, you can simply continue working on it from your Mac. The clever feature that allows for seamless working is Handoff, which literally passes what you’re doing from one device to another.
Handoff works with Mail, Safari, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Maps, Messages, Reminders, Calendar and Contacts, while app developers can easily build Handoff into their apps.
Instant hotspot
No Wi‑Fi? No problem. If you’re in a remote area or anywhere there’s no wifi, you can use your phone to create internet for your Mac so that you can always be connected (and keep up with Facebook). With Instant Hotspot, your Mac can remotely activate the Personal Hotspot on your iPhone when they are near each other. When connected to a hotspot, your Mac displays the signal strength and battery life of your iPhone at the top of the Wi‑Fi menu.
Share files easily
Forget emailing, saving onto USBs or sharing on Cloud services, With AirDrop, you can share photos, documents and presentations with anyone else nearby on a Mac or iPhone, making it quick, easy and, dare we say it, lots of fun.
Access all your documents, photos, songs, contacts and more
We know that if you want to listen to your favourite playlist, access your holiday pics, or read your new book on iBooks, you want to do it from any device without changing whatever’s in your hand. iCloud connects you and your Apple devices in amazing ways. It makes sure you always have the latest versions of your most important things — like photos, documents, apps, notes and contacts — on whatever device you are using. It lets you easily share photos, calendars, locations and more with friends and family. It even helps you find your device if you lose it, and you can use it as a backup system for your most precious memories and documents.
